After seeing the rest of the car coming together I thought that the under hood needed some work. So what was the ugliest part there. The chopped and faded valve cover.

So I took it off and used a paint striper gel and removed the old paint. Then I sanded some of the blemishes out with 200 grit sandpaper. Then cleaned it all up. Bought some automotive paint and started spraying it on. It was just from a can ad each can was about $6.

I would spray on 4 coats and then sand it smooth with 1000 grit sandpaper. Then put more paint on. In total there is about 16 coats of paint on it and it was sanded about 4 or 5 times. After you have it looking the way you want it with 1000 grit sandpaper it is time to move up to 1500 grit. After you make it look even better with that you go to 2000 grit sandpaper.

Then after I was done that I used some 3M rubbing compound and get out all the scratch marks and bring it to s shine. Then what I did was sanded all the lettering back down to the raw aluminum and polished it by hand. The results will be worth the time invested.

After i was all done i got the engine washed and got all the undercoating off and other mess under the hood.
