I bought the car new in Feb. '01 after my old car, a '95 Beretta SS developed a leaky rad (alarm siren rubbed the rad) during my spring break. After spending a day fixing the rad, and it still leaked, I traded it off seeing as the car needed lots more work in the near future, it was used up.
When I bought the sunfire, all I had ever done as far as modding cars was the stereo in the Beretta (which rocked). The Beretta didn't have much performance potential, so it never interested me much. The sunfire has a much better motor, but the suspension still sucked. I started out on the motor, as it was already a strong point, but this just exposed the other weaknesses in the car.
The car is quick, and it's gonna get quicker, but most of my efforts this season were focused on the suspension, which I've already done most of the groundwork on, and some other little things that will make it more interesting to drive.
My Sunfire was the first one that I had seen with the new style exhaust (ironically one of the first things that I changed on the car, and have since changed back to stock looking). I really like the bumper style (best style Sunfire ever), the rims are alright (they are now changed for summer), and Ive never owned anything but red cars.
