The first upgrade installed on the car was a high flow turbo muffler. Since then, I have installed a Flowmaster 80 Series muffler with dual turn-down tips. Since replacing the turbo muffler with the Flowmaster, the car has a more deep, throaty tone and sounds better while idling.
The first upgrade was almost immediately followed by the second upgrade, the installation of a high flow intake. This further enhanced the breathing of the engine. Doing this allowed the vehicle to take off quicker and pass other vehicles more easily. Other modifications to the engine include Platinum 4 spark plugs by Bosch and 8mm spark plug wires by Autolite.
I dressed up the engine after installing the intake. The engine cover and strut bar were painted teal and the alternator and both valve covers were painted black, along with smaller covers and caps. Various wires and fuel hoses were covered with black wire covers. The manifold is painted a light silver with clear coat. The 3.8L (231 c.i.) engine produces a nice amount of power(est. 185HP) and torque (225 lb-ft).
The third upgrade was to the sound system and interior. Stainless steel pedals and a steering wheel cover are some of the minor interior changes. I installed a Sony head unit and replaced all of the stock speakers with Polk Audio speakers. The difference was huge.
I also have a 400 watt 12" Orion subwoofer in the trunk.
The Sony head unit has a AUX input that allows me to plug my MP3 player into the system. This saves me from having to carry CDs everywhere and having to change them while I'm driving.
I also installed a small Sunpro tach.
