First off let me say that all these pictures are how I found the truck. These have been sitting in my father-in-law's back yard for many years. Fortunately, the cab and bed are in great shape, and there are two trucks to pick from.

53on89's 1953 Ford F-Series Pick-UpThe top picture is the cab I will use in the build up. I intend to have it dipped to remove all the paint and rust, then electrocoated to insure it doesn't continue to rust. As you can see, it is in amazing shape considering where it is sitting. It is actually sitting on blocks that have sunk almost completely into the ground. Fortunately the floorboards are still in excellent shape.

53on89's 1953 Ford F-Series Pick-UpThe second picture is the complete pile of parts I have acquired. One is a 53 other a 54. BTW, if you are looking for any original steel parts, let me know, maybe we can work out a deal. This was a project started in 1971. The F250(1954) with the engine had a broken frame, the F100(1953) had a blown motor. Somehow he was going to take the two and make a hot rod out of them using the 63 frame and body and the 64 drivetrain. Eventually it became a restration/streetrod project, then was put on the back shelf. This is where I come in.

The cab and bed will be set on an 89 Ford ranger frame with a 2000 Ford lighning 5.4l supercharged engine motovating things. The complete Lightning is on it's way from Ohio where it was totalled.

I will update with more pictureas as time goes on. I'm going to photograph everything so I have a complete documented build up when I'm done.

hey, nice start to your project. I got a 54, it had a 223 Straight 6 in it, now will have a Ford Smallblock. I've seen 54s with flatheads original from the factory, and some 53s with a Powerking OHV V8 from the factory. Anyway, nice project and come check my 54 out.
