Thanks for checking out my new project, a 1991 eBay special Capri I am bringing back from the dead with a 150hp JDM mazda B6T (1.6l DOHC Turbo) motor. Right now it looks like this (file photo - don't have a good 3/4 view pic yet)

Here are pics of the car the previous owner used to advertize selling the car on ebay I bought it for $600!:zxtunerdotcom2's 1991 Mercury Caprizxtunerdotcom2's 1991 Mercury Capri
Why not just start with a XR2 Turbo capri you ask? They were detuned motors (132 hp) and the driveline is heavier/taller geared than if using the the non-turbo's. The trans, axles, and flywheel alone is 50 lbs heavier! Besides, this one was cheap to buy! The JDM motors only cost $695 (that's what I sell them for).

Anyways, as far as swaps go, this one's a slam dunk. I added a 160 degree thermostat and Centerforce 1 clutch disc (I will be selling them at zxtuner.com), trimmed the bellhousing steel plate, added a insert to the vam tube, and put the B6 non turbo distributor on. Here's some pics taken during the install:

There's still quite a bit more work to do, but she is running now, and WOW. This thing will burn it's tires all thru 1st and 1/2 way thru 2nd! How many 4cyl Miatas can say that?!

It now pulls real hard from 3500-5500rpm, and I've taken it to 6000 rpm in 5th (around 120mph or so). I can't wait until the intercooler and fuel/timing upgrades are completed!

If you'd like to learn more about this swap, check out the forum at Teamcapri.com. I have a full rundown there about what it took to do the swap.

I also made a strut bar for the car as well, and sell it at ZXtuner Speed shop. Stay tuned for more capri parts there too!

As of today, I have added some Voxx mgr alloys and falken Ziex 512's, and in my garage sits a set of Tokico struts, some H&R springs, and a MSD Boost Timing Retard Box (I'm using the N/A capri electronics, it passes Calif smog checks that way - lol). More info later....
