I like but that engine was the worse engine ever designed and the four banger turbo wasn't truely perfected till 1986 when ford added the intercooler.

Howdy! A friend of mine recently bought a 1980 Mustang...... baby blue with a vinyl white top. Not my first choice, but I'm hoping I can help it more cooler looking and perhaps even make the 2.3 liter gallop. Can you give me some ideas on what would really help his engine out? I've driven the car myself and I swear, that engine has NO go whatsoever. And I think he wants to stay automatic.

Also, if you could tell me a good site for makign the car look a little better... I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Thanks. Dan.

ok i hope you get it fixed and with the choke its supposed to do that when you give it gas its supposed to open and like the same with mine when u open it manually it will die.cause its electric you dont need to mess with it believe me its supposed to be like that it used to take me a long time to get my baby to idel without a choke rod and i couldnt find one i had to get one from Canada.but if the coil doesnt help try new plugs and wires and if you got new plugs gap theme right.just a few ideas that wont cost money or well not a lot of money.

ok do you have your vac hose for your distributor hooked up?and if you do did you have the hose connected when tryin to set your timing?cause that will set it up all wrong. and maybe your choke isnt opening up.
