This is Baby, our '99 Miata in it's latest transformation, with the new vents in the bumper cover for the cold air intake and the splitter under the chin spoiler. The fog light bezels were added so that I could duct air up under the left headlight to bring cool air up into the intake for the super-charger.
This is the Jackson Racing super-charger, to which I've added the JR Inter-cooler, a BRP boost upgrade kit , JR power card ,and a Snow Performance water/methanol injection system. Boost is just shy of 8 pounds and power has been dyno'd at 187 RWHP. The air cleaner has been redone to flow more and cleaner air. The remote oil filter resides behind the right headlight where it's very easy to get to.
Modified radiator overflow tank with coolant lines added for the inter-cooler and a copper overflow tube to keep the overflow of coolant from making a mess in the engine compartment. Also the remote oil filter that has custom built hoses, a mounting bracket made from an old office chair and fittings from J.C. Whitney.
This is the business end of the Snow Performance water / methanol injection system. The pump is behind the bumper cover on the right side of the car and the reservoir is the windshield washer tank. I tapped into the bottom washer fluid tank to use it as the source of the injection fluid. It works well and I can keep my timing turned up even in the hot weather without worry of detonation.
As thanks for helping work on his car, Thom Stuewe bought this Mazdaspeed oil filler cap for Baby. Looks great, thanks Thom!
Baby likes to play too. Here we are autocrossing with the Akron Sports Car Club in the Street Modified, two seater class. The driver isn't as good as the car, but we have a great time killing those nasty cones together.
Ready to autocross. This year I'm on Falken Azenis RT615 tires. These tires may not the hot set up for winning my class, but I do not have to change tires at the track. No tire changing = less tools to haul, more time to goof off and more time to relax.
The Northcoast Miata Club attends the Vintage Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio Raceway each year. While there we register our Miatas for the Concours d’Elegance which allows our cars to be voted on for Peoples Choice Award, lets us take parade laps around the track during the lunch break and gives us parking in the Miata Coral in the infield. At the July 1, 2007 event Baby was selected, for the second time, to represent all of the Miatas at the Concours d’Elegance that day. This is a picture of Baby among the rest of the top 20 cars in the final judging that day. We didn't win, but it was neat having been selected for the second time.
