THE COLT IS DEAD...

My colt has met with an untimely death. I will spare the readers the sordid details but suffice to say that my son put it into a 7 foot ravine and totaled it. He is fine but my colt is no more.

This Colt comes with a story. I bought one just like the one pictured back in 1984 as my first new car and drove it until a woman in a F150 ran a red light and totalled if for me. I always promised myself that I would have another and a couple of years ago I found one on the internet for sale in California. I flew there from Ohio and bought it sight unseen. I then drove it back to my home some 2,400 miles away. My wife and her friends thought that i was crazy and even had a pool at work. They had each put some money in a pot and each had placed thumb-tack in a map along the route that I was traveling. The one who was closest to the place that I eventually broke down won the pot. Long and short is that I made it all the way home with no difficulty.

It was a little rough when I got it but slowly I have been restoring it. I have rebuilt the engine (mild port job on the head) and put in new front struts. I also replaced the steering rack and redid the interior with new seat covers and a new dash. I had it repainted and restriped and bought new 15" rims and tires to replace the 13" ones that came stock. As of now it runs very well and pulls hard for a car that is almost 20 years old with 108,000 miles on it. For the future I am planning an intercooler and blow off valve to make the transformation complete....

This Easter weekend I purchased the intercooler and the blow off valve that I wanted and will be installing them soon after they are received. Check back here for updated pics of the engine bay soon...
