L.E.D. lighting under door handles.

Some of you have seen mine and asked how i did this. it is really not to hard to do. Mine are red. and glow red when the key less entry or dome light is activated.
So here ya go this is how i did this.

Under the door Handel lights.

First off i would like to say IF YOU DO THIS IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

step 1 Figure out the color of the L.E.D. glow you would like to have. In this example were using red as this is what i have.

Step 2 Take your door panels off look in a motors manual for your car to know how to do this.

Step 3 roll the window in your car back up so that you have room to work.

Step 4 take out the out side door handles on your car . Again read your book on how to do it for your car.

Step 5 now for the fun part. take all parts in to a bench where you can work with out losing anything. \

Step 6 using your L.E.D.'s figure out the size hole that you will need to drill so that they are snug fit in to the hole but not to tight to get them in there.

Step 7 Now figure out where on the back side you would like to place the LED's so that they will light up the Handel and make the whole inside of the Handel glow and not look like a spot light in there. there are 4 under each of mine to get this effect.

Step 8 Now carefully take a marker of some kind and mark your holes. Then drill them out in those spots. CAREFUL NOT TO GET THEM TO CLOSE TOGETHER If you have to use less or more L.E.D.'s to get the desired effect . you can kind of get a idea of how it will look by taping the LEDS in to place from the front side and lighting them up using a 9 Volt bat. With the proper resistor to bring the voltage down far enough.
Once the wholes are drilled , Test all of the LEDs that you want in this Handel again. then using supper glue glue them in to place.

Step 9 Once the glue is dry you can start to wire the lights together.
Wire them in i did mine + to + to + to + then - to - to - to - on the other wire. So when your done you have two wires one positive and one negative.
You can also chose to do them + of the first one to the - of the second one and then to the + of the last one. and so on for the other leg do it the same way this will give you one wire on each end of the row of L.E.D;s

Step 10 After you get all the wiring done (witch ever way you chose to do it)
soldier them all together and then using a 9 volt bat. and a resistor in line with the positive side. test your lights and see if all is working correctly again.

Step 11 If all test god then take your new Handel and wires out to the car. Revers the order you pulled them out and put the Handel back in to the car.

Step 12 NOW run the wires for your new lights around everything in the door that could cause them to get cut or hurt. I used hot glue to hold them in place. and went to the out side of the door to above the locks stuff and down to the bottom of the door back to the hinges.

Step 13 Run the wires threw the protective shrouding you should have in your door if you have any wires for locks, windows etc.. If you do not have this use a peace of rubber hose and drill the holes needed to make sure the wires are not caught in the door when closed or cut, snagged etc..

Step 14 Soldier a resistor in line with the power wire for the lights.
Hook it up to 12 volt power threw your dome light if you want them to come on with the dome lights in the car. or with th Key less entry. (they normally will trigger the dome lights when ya hit the button.

Step 15 Now test the lights in each door might have to cup your hands around them to see the lights but ya should have power to it.
If all is working with the locks unlocked and locked or on and off with the remote you can now put it back together.

You now have under door Handel lights.

The second way to do this.

Buy the kits that fall apart form Street glow for 80.00 and have them shipped and wait for them for 2 weeks and hope they last more then the time it took you to get them. I had three kits i bought one and had it replaced twice before i just made mine like above. I have said to do it above. the ones in the car now have lasted longer then the three kits have put together. So take your pick on how ya want to do it. But at 80.00 a kit for theirs and mine for less then 30.00 i think i will stick with the ones i have.

KEEP IN MIND YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT SAYING TO DO IT THE WAY I HAVE I JUST AM TELLING YOU HOW I DID IT.
YOU ARE THE ONE WHO TAKES ON FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS AND YOUR CAR. AND I AM NOT HELD LIABLE FOR YOUR SCREW UPS. SO DO THIS AT YOUR RISK.
