Arizona Nopi Story March 2005:
While tuning Wednesday night for the Nopi event we blew a head gasket. After trailering the car home the head was removed to find 2 pistons shot and the cylinder walls damaged. Thursday with the help of PFI we had a new sleeved block and pistons. The engine was built Thursday and was tuning that night. Tuning proved our injectors went bad and was the source of the engine failure. After replacing the injectors we had plenty of fuel and finished the tuning up Friday morning. During this process there was not sleep. Friday we had issues with the fitment of the passenger axle hub. After getting some machine work done to the hub it all fit correctly. We left Denver at 6pm and drove through the night 15 hours to Arizona and pulled into the gates at 9am. We left Denver with crazy horsepower, but the change in altitude had us running extremely rich on fuel. Our performance wasn't what we were looking for. Our local track will open soon and we will get some good 1/4 mile times. After getting back to Denver we found that our cam gear came loose causing our performance issues.
