The 1988 Reatta, probably the least promoted new model ever released, Buick put all its' eggs in the Regal promotion bag when it was instead being introduced to Dealers. The Reatta was there as a Showroom attraction only. The first production car accepted for delivery to dealers, the first of just over 21,000 total coupes and (limited) convertibles.

Pity Caddilac Div. had control of concept and engineering resources in those days, stuck with 160 hp and no tranny options, well
I fixed that!
This should say it all!wimpp's 1988 Buick Reatta

Thank god for people who are different than the herd. Nice 5-speed swap. I know that Buick made RWD mules and I've often wondered just how hard out would be to make it RWD. Yu already have a great engine to do so there you wouldn't have any crazy reqiring to do, only engine mounts/crossmember up front and the rear subframe and you'd be ready to go. Viv la differance.

This is by far my favorite Reatta on car domain it looks as though it would have rolled off production line ready to tear up the streets with that supercharger and those rims are great. Mine has too much sentimental value so i don't want to do any modifications. Chase F.

Hey again, I really, REALLY need your advice,

Ive stumbled across a 2-owner 80,000ml original 1988 reatta, in great shape other than tires, antenna, and some trim pieces. Its basically my dream Buick, but I dont have any knowledge on these vehicles from a personal standpoint, so any advice on what to look for, problem areas(the touch screen worked fine, engine ran great and tranny shifted well, but when i hit diagnostics on the touch screen and then the "engine[ok]" button it said something about a sensor(maybe just a test?) no lights are on or codes are set, idles great(may need a touch of seafoam though)

just need help on figuring out the whole ECC thing and what to replace/check on this model car/ like figuring how to open the damn moon roof...P.S. Its white/blue interior in near perfect shape still has owners manuals and build sheet...Thanks again, i might have it in 2 days, so check my pages, might have a new sleeper hit in the backyard!

NICE. nice choice in car, nice choice in brand, and I personally feel you chose the engine/tranny that was a match made in heaven for that car considering it was Buicks version of a 'vette in the late 80's, though the s/c engine wasnt available til 93 on GM cars.Had they made them like this then, we'd probably see many more on the road and the model might have made it past 92'. i'm most impressed by the quality and attention to detail you took with the interior with the 5-speed(wish i could fit one in my 97 s/c Riviera...),i had always wondered what one of these would be like with the s/c 3.8, and youve given us all a glimpse of what could have been.Great job, 5 stars all the way!(p.s. you stole my rims!)check me out and let me know of any tuning secrets you might have!
