Hey All, my buddy and I have been trying to replace the Kenwood KAC-1023 with a suitable replacement but have been unsuccesful. Here's the imfamous 12W7 Like I said we had a KAC-1023 on it giving the 12 about 1200W's and boy did it QUAKE. I'm talking the kind of bass that hurt your chest, but alas the amp is dead.
First was the Planet Audio PA2250D
It made the 12W7 move some decent air and it sounded pretty good, but since the PA is 1ohm optimized the sub was only seeing about 850+/- watts.
Next was the RockFord Fosgate 1050S, it actually sounded totally different from the PA2250D, it was the closest to sounding and feeling like the KAC-1023 but the 1050S got to hot which we could of probaly fixed with a few cooling fans, but anyway, by by 1050S
Currently we have the PhoenixGold Tantrum T1200.1 which is rated at 1470.1 @4-2ohms at 14v. we'll let this amp ride for alittle while, do alittle tweaking and adjusting to see if we can get it to hurt. Peace
