Any GT's wanna race then?

What you are looking is one of the most underatted cars in my area. This is actually a Punto SX but race tuned and used as a mess about car. My main car is a Civic Type-R which is concourse and is my pride and joy (but standard) This Punto is my old banger that I like to play with. I pulled out the standard 1.1 engine that was in it and have dropped in a GT engine. As everyone knows these are Turbocharged but they hardly set the pulses racing in standard kit. So I tried to chip it and this felt quicker but no real BHP upgrade. The Boost up really does not show on a Dyno. So i decided to go full on!!!

Engine.
The engine has been fully rebuilt, Overbored to a 1500 as this is the safest tolerance tested on the block, low compression pistons and the block has been fully wire ringed and fitted with an uprated head gasket taken from an italian Mk1 Abarth spec GT. I have gone for a Novezegova cam direct from fiat (this is an import item meant for Europe not UK). The turbo has been uprated to a 99 spec Subaru Impreza IHI unit with reduced impellor blades and larger exhaust blades. This has been coupled to a custom manifold to allow fitment of larger unit with 3" stainless still tubing without the cat. The rear box is from a mk2 MR2 unit and made by HKS(not shown in old pictures). I have uprated the intercooler using a Mazda 323turbo one. this allowed us to keep the existing fiat unit which is required as running 18psi boost with HKS boost management in car unit. Full silicon hoses added with a Greedy blow off valve. My friends have managed to upgrade the gearbox with diesel internals using an X19 housing but not my area so please no questions. Whole lot is controlled by an apexi engine management and was set-up on the rollers by Hill tuning in London. Total cost is ?3600 (on the cheap) + ?380 set up. But this car is still on low boost and eats anything fiat alive, and still has an SX badge on the rear, STEALTH! Proven 173Bhp at wheels and torque figure is the most impressive at 232lbft ( the same as a scooby STi)

Exterior

Nowt yet, obviously as you cans ee from the pics i have added some eyebrows and a rear spoiler and the HKS exhsust (not in picture) gives the game away a little. The wheels are 15" Superleggra OZ items and are the max size if you want to keep performance on the Punto. But still looks stealth. May do some mods later but now am interested in making into quickest punto around.

Interior

Stripped out apart from standard GT front seats. Taken out passenger and drivers airbags, no spare wheel as well used to house battery moved from engine bay. standard windy windows to save weight. This is what makes the car so fast as so light, Stereo is nice but not on a race spec car as it is just extra ballast (sorry ICE guys)

Brakes

These are uprated GT items with a coupe Brembo set to go on soon as standard GT items are crap with this amount of power!

Well then young man, this sounds interesting. Only living in Sittingbourne & having a GT of my own ( that judging by your spec will be slow ) looks like we will have to meet sometime. Only to compare cars as i will surely lose a race !!
