MERKUR XR4TI Biwing '89

This XR4TI has been fitted with the '86 Bi-wing which is one of the features which make this car very unique. Keeping it all Ford, other modifications include a Mustang T-5 transmission. Turbo Coupe vane meter, TC EEC REGULAR or SUPER fuel switch control option, TC gutted upper intake manifold, lower intake has been partially gutted or knife edged. TC intercooler, TC underhood ducting for air supply, K&N filter & cold air intake into chassis. Intercooler has a fan in the hood to force air to the intercooler especially while idling via switch control. Faceplate has been opened into a MERKUR emblem outline & the emblem "floats" in the center held up by wire mesh. Head is ported, roller cam, exhaust manifold ported, TC 2.5" down pipe & cat. Round tooth timing belt setup. Serpentine or V-Groove accessory belt setup. Ford Contour wheels. Tinted windows, remote start, alarm, remote windows control and monster modified audio system designed and installed by pruvenperformance.
This is a ongoing project car but a daily driver. Most of the work and parts are one of a kind and still being finalized.

Simple cut out in the faceplate in the MERKUR outline to provide improved cooling to the engine bay

Meshed hood holes are ducted to a fan in the hood and supplying air to the TC intercooler via TC ducting.

Ford Contour wheel with Ford cap. Ford round tooth timing belt & sepentine accessory belt setup.

TC intercooler, TC upside down vane meter going to the K&N filter in the body.

TC ducting with fan draws air through ducts leading to hood holes.

SONY remote controller on column. SONY head unit, equalizer, CD holder, heated seat switches. REGULAR or SUPER fuel switch control option switch on the shifter bezel.

No cold or hot seats due to seat covers. Head unit, equalizer, CD holder, base control dial. Heated seat switches.Air/Fuel & Boost gauges.

Rear side panel speaker assemblys.

Rear BASE speakers, amplifiers, battery, capacitors, etc. assemblys.


The furry mobile alarm system loves his MERKUR rides. The future plan is to get the XR spruced up such as cleaning up the engine bay, installation of the left hand drive euro lights in time for the All Ford Nationals @ Carlisle. Window tinting, all aspects of alarm system options, and remote start, remote windows, as well as all aspects of the audio system has been designed and developed by Pruven Perfomance.
