1989/1990 Subaru L Series GL Sports Wagon

ok. this is my sooby named susie. (pictured below on this page). weve been through a bit together. the engine is tired but always starts and goes. it still revs really hard and goes fast enough. soon i plan to drop susie on her arse repaint her a neat white colour to freshen up. an EJ20 would be nice but i prefer to recondition this engine and then add a turbo, and bore it out to a 2.0litre. A sound system tinted windows, new seat covers floor mats etc. Also i will either recondition those sunraisier wheels or get some second hand rex or liberty wheels. the only thing is i have to drill another spoke cos this car is only 4 stud. This car i think is really reliable and it is worth to buy one. the best thing i like is the dual range 4wd. I dragged off a 2.6 litre magna purely cos i have 4wd. My subie might not have power but when it comes to grip it has the road under control. 4wd is also fun in the snow. me and a friend left school in the middle of the day once because school was so damn bad that day and went up to the mountain. id never driven in snow until then and not long had my licence. i thought ok. dont want to go too fast, looks dangerous. the subie held to the road until i got to the ice covered empty car park at the top! i provoked susie a little and only doing 25 kilometres an hour, we drifted gracefully for about 20-30 metres with the wheel locked to the left and the arse at the left! it doesnt sound bad but we didnt see the guide posts on the side. thankfully i pulled susie around before i hit anything. we stopped and i thought that was kool, so we did it again! A fun car!! the wagon is also best for drifting in a grass paddock. put some friends in the trunk and lock the wheel around. drift comes to say hello!

a new front bumper, it was untouched and then someone made a small dent with a trolley. i was so pissed off. but now its virtually unnoticable only if u look hard.

another photo. i like the roof racks, give it the surf, beach look, add a bit of character.

Before i say anything else, i must say this isnt mine, i dont know whos car it is but its the best example of a tuned gl. credit has to go to the person who did this and if its u contact me, because i want to know what u did to it. yeh im not sure what engine mods it has but standard, these are 1.8 turbo subaru GLs, 2 door and 4 door models were available. if im wrong correct me but in japan these were called the subaru RX2 like wrx minus the w, so the wrx of the 80s. ok i love it i have to admit.
