From June 13 - July 9, 2004, I visited the homeland, yes that's right I'm half Filipino. Yes after 22 years I went on a plane on route to the Philippines.
I would admit that in the beginning I had no interest whatsoever to go to a third world country.
However things drastically changed when I got there.
Cancun- crap, Daytona- done it, Wakiki- whack...
I've been to all the above, and I have never, I REPEAT NEVER seen a more beautiful beach in my life. Boracay, is an island in the Philippines, and has the most natural, calm, aqua waters I have ever seen. Did I mention the sand was white, and fine as powder.
Just a picture of the beach. I miss it.
You can get a one hour massage for 250 Pesos, roughly 5 bucks American.
This is a picture of the hotel we stayed at right on the beach. In the morning I would open the blinds and sit on the second floor balcony, and enjoy the clean fresh air, as well as the view.
Sunset, at 6pm. It took a while to adjust to the twelve hour time difference. From eastern standard time.
Also the Canadian and American dollar goes so far there. I had American dollars at the time and for each American dollar I received roughly 56 Pesos. Believe it or not t-shirts cost 90-100 Pesos, so yes a buck seventy-five American.
This made me even more happier, this was paradise at an affordable price.
This is me on a boat tour, yes on the best seat in the house, and massaging my feet with the waves.
We did banana boating along with many other water activities.
This is me relaxing on a hamock by the ocean, just about to go clubbing, yes in sandals, at the legendary Cucomonga night club.
Oh yes, and unlike Canada and the U.S. where most night clubs close between 2am-3am. Nightclubs in Boracay stay open until everyone is gone, roughly around 5am-7am.
