In as a dry fit and it is looking schanzzy
This is a serious tranny jack... meant for big rigs, but it will do the job.
shoving that beast up in there.
And look at that, it fits... almost like this whole setup was made for the van...
After removing the ECU
Before-ish
During... thinking... "i hate EFI engines...."
After
The crap load of un-needed wires on the floor
Then in the trash can
Starting to go through the body harness seeing what i do and dont need.
Making me question why i am choosing to study electrical engineering in college.
oh yeah, but after a few days in the hot hot sun, it is finally done, and all thats left now is to hide this 15 foot snake in the car somewhere...
And the left over wires, i might be able to make some money off of the copper in the wires since metal is how it is today.
Getting ready to tack weld the floor shifter because......
oh look... the column shifter is gone. that damn thing took up sooo much room that the waste gate actuator was going to have to be removed and a whole bunch of stuff, so i just decided to rip that thing out and do up a floor shifter.
now that you never see in an MPV.. this is the stock shifter from a 1990 300zx.
and from the back side
oh yes, cock-eyed to prefection.
me working on brackets for the ecu's
The mounting plate for the main ecu and the tranny computer
The final resting spot, just have to fab up a cover plate now, since its under the heater core and peoples feet.
The last main hurdle before trying to make it start.... the damn oil pan.. since MPV's were never really intended to go fast, the hump in the pan is in front of the sub frame stock, so since all "proper" cars have a hump in the rear, i have to modify this one and add some side humps to gain back some volume..
After chopping off the side hump and the bottom of the pan, and a nice wash in the wash tank... we have this, next is to add on humps.
This is the largest intercooler spearco makes and we put it in my dads 98 ford f-150, its a 4.5in core and the measurements are huge x massive.. so for shits and giggles, we just wanted to see... you know i never really needed a radiator anyway...
Starting the new custom center counsel
This is how you bend MDF... many incisions that dont go all the way through, then use your sawdust and mix it with wood glue to make a paste fill in the holes, then bend it and it adheres and acts as a filler.
coming together
the basic shape
with the gauge pods i made from mdf
my dad is getting these made out of aluminum on a cnc machine
test fit.... an MPV with this.. you must think i am crazy.. but then again it is a twin turbo.
mostly finished, just need cupholders, power outlets, cubby, and i will wait till after its runing to put the stereo in.
after getting the upper plenum and coolant pipes back from being ceramic chrome coated... shinny
the new walbro pump i put in, no where could i find how much the stock MPV pump ran, but the walbro is good for 500 horses, and its just over a hundred bucks, so why not.
and this is how you get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank, just lift up the carpet and remove a cover with a big "F" on it.
The fuel module from the 300zx will go here, it makes the most sense, just gotta wire it in and add a relay.
the counsel in a rough mockup with the ALpine IVA-w205, stainless cupholders(intended for marine stuff), shifter without the aluminum cover plate, the 6 gauges, boost, wideband, fuel press, oil press, water temp, oil temp, and the 2 power outlets by the e-brake.
a close up
in the future there will be 2 ac outlets on the back plus rca hokups for say an xbox or such.
The engine in its final form with painted alt housing and all chrome bolts and nuts. for the most part.
the awesome new center counsel, covered in vinyl and in 1/4" foam
the beautiful double stitch
i polished those aluminum gauge pods and they look just as shiny, if not more shiny than the stainless cupholders.
and the main attraction on the dash
the frank-en-tank (frankenstien tank) all welded
for the side mounted intercoolers
the wide angle shot.. this will help to reduce backpressure and keep the intercoolers as cool as possible, and the expanded just helps keep big birds and rats out, or whatever decides to try and get flung around my tires, more likely to be rocks and asphault turds.
our solution to drain the pan since we lack access to the original drain plug... a -12 fitting to some hose then a plug.
getting it all married up
and onto the very sturdy boeing surplus table (beefed up of course)
getting closer
yes... its going in there...
how you ask???
simple... drop the car on the engine and tranny
slowly but surely.............
............. it makes its way in
the view from the bottom after a long night of inching it down
recovering after surgery...(implant surgery)
the new HKS blow off valves.... yes, 2!!!!
looks soo much sexier and more awesome than the old model
oil relocator kit
cleaned tranny pan
two drive shafts, the nissan one, and the mazda, very easy to tell the 2 apart, seeing as how one twice as thick and the other is twig like.
the new one piece combined from the nissan front and the mazda rear with a one piece tube balanced and painted by Alkine drivelines in kent.
oh baby it looks good
crankshaft position sensor looks normal on the outside
but, the shaft was completely sheared off right below the bearing so it did not move the disc at all.
on top of it being broken, some one decided to wash it and you can see it did not do the sensor any good at all.
