INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW
______________________________________________________________________________

This is my 98 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. I owned a 90 Talon TSI and loved it. I sold it about a year after buying it and bought a 86 GTI Turbo and later a 95 GTI VR6. The VW's were good but after two turbo cars then to the GTI VR6 which had Direct Port Nitrous I was getting sick of FWD and no turbo. I eventually had to go back to a AWD Turbo car. My GTI could lay 100ft of rubber on the highway simply by down shifting with the nitrous on. A 125hp direct port shot was so much extra power coming on that it would just roast the tires. So eventually I got sick of that and bought this:

DSMJim's 1998 Eagle Talon Here is my 98 Eagle Talon. I bought it totally stock and modified it into the form that your going to see as you flip through my pages. The outside of the car is left low key as to keep it nice looking and not tacky. I'm not into body kits or other retarded modifications like that. My car is ment to go fast and look good. Looks are all subjective so my car is my defination of what I think looks nice, but if it's not your that's ok too.

It's lowered with H&R springs and KYB shocks. I have to admit the car has aftermarket side skirts but thats only to even out for the rather aggressive factory front and rear bumper. The sides just didn't look right so they needed a little something. I'm rolling on 17" Konig Theory in graphite with Bridgestone Potenza SO-3 tires.

DSMJim's 1998 Eagle Talon Here is the rear 1/4 shot of the car. Again just keeping it clean. My fancy lights. The front and rear bumpers as well as the spoiler are all factory. Those are not aftermarket add-ons or anything like that. I think the Talon has a great looking style to it from the factory so I didn't try and mess with it too much.

DSMJim's 1998 Eagle Talon Under the hood I like to keep things shiny, functional, and simple. My car has a Turbonetics T3/T4 50Trim turbocharger, Turbonetics Manifold, Tial 35mm wastegate, 3" exhaust fabricated by myself. Dejon Tool intake pipe to an HKS Super mega flow. My intercooler are also fabricated by myself to a custom Spearco 28x8x3.5" front mount intercooler with a Greddy blow off valve. I have a 1G 60mm Throttle body and Magnus Motorsports Sheet metal intake manifold. MSD DIS-2 for ignition with Magnacore wires and NGK BPR7ES plugs. (1 range colder). Fuel is handeled by FIC 650cc injectors, Sard adjustable FPR and a SAFC inside.

DSMJim's 1998 Eagle Talon The rear again is kept simple. I use a Vibrant Performance 3" inlet 4" outlet Turbo muffler. My whole exhaust system from turbo to tip is 3" as it's a turbo car. You need a very large exhaust system on turbo cars to carry the exhaust away from the turbo charger as quickly as possible. As soon as you have a turbocharger you have wayyy more back pressure then you will ever need so getting the exhaust away from the turbo as fast as possible creates the maximum HP. If I went down to a 2.5" exahust I would lose probablly 30hp or more, and my spool up times would greatly increase.

DSMJim's 1998 Eagle Talon Here is my car at night. These are my old rims and before my FMIC. I have HID lights from an AUDI A6 which provide much extra light. As I drive my car at night and on weekends mostly it seems to be that I drive mainly at night so a good set of headlights helps a lot.
