Welcome to my Site!
I have another site with all my Vehicles at www.cardomain.com\id\rusty_ol_ranger
Introduction
This is my 1977 LTD II 2door. Weighing in at over 2 tons and pushing 20 feet long, and 6 feet wide nowadays, its considered a fullsize, in the 70's, it was midsized.
The Engine in this beast is a 351 Windsor V8, with a 2BBL Carburator it pumps out 149HP@3200RPM and a Diesel like 290LBFT@1600RPM.(SAE Net Figures)
From the numbers you would figure this thing is slow, you would be mistaken.
It has a FMX Transmission and a 9inch rear axle, geared to 2.50.
Belive it or not, the LTD II is a rather rare ride, with production totals over 3 years never breaking 90,000.
The Top End "Brougham" Sedans and the Cheap 351 2 door "S" models are rarest, with totals less than 13,000 units.
Mine is the 351 2 door "S" model.
Ford touted these cars as "Combining the big LTD's level of high workmanship with the Mustang II's sporty sprit", therefore the name "LTD II". The LTD II was a great car, but with its huge diminsions and Gas Guzzling V8's it couldnt compete in the late 70's.
These cars are special in the hearts of their owners, giving you a almost inviciable feeling on the road, parked in a parking lot, you'll never mistake it for anything else, at a stop light, almost anything is intimadated by the Rumbling V8's stuck into these things, and the way the body rocks when revved.
These cars are great, nothing like them on the road today.

Anyone owning a 72-79 Ford Vehicle, Ford Retarted the Timing on these things roughly 5 degrees from pre-72 Timing...and messed with the Carb to get it to run smooth. A FREE, easy, simple trick to do to these things is hook a timing light up to them, loosen the distburator hold down bolt, and turn the dist roughly 1\4 turn to the left. Some adjustment to the Idle Screw and the Air\Fuel Screws will be needed, as well as the need to run 89 Octane gas...however....you get a very noticable increase in power. People in Emission tested areas of the country probely shouldn't do this modification. A 5 degree advance in timing ups your power around 2%...doesnt sound like much...but on my 351 it pushes the numbers up from 149HP and 290LBFT to 179HP and 348LBFT....enough power to make quite a difference.
