The Story on my 1978 SS Black Knight El Camino. The car was givin to my family by a family friend that drove it before the engine died. My Father paid to have a built 350 put in it for $3000. It need some Body work, a new headliner, a new windshield, both fenders replaced and a new pant job. The first thing we replaced after the enigine, was the headliner for $100. I started sanding and priming and somewhere in the first year I neglected to get it painted and surface rust started coming up threw the primer and made it look worse then when I got the car. About half way threw the first year I went on vacation and when I got back the front grill and fiberglass front end peice were crunched. So I went to about 5 different wrecking yards and eventually came across a 1978 black El Camino with the front end fiberglass peice and grill that I was looking for. It had minor damage but overall was what I was looking for. We paid $165 for the whole front end fenders and all (minus hood). My Grandfather and I spent about 3 hours in the wrecking yard taking the front end off of the junk yard El Camino. During the year the bed of the truck started leaking water into the cab, so my Grandfather and I re-culked and painted the bed. By the end of the first year My Grandfather and I put the front end on my El Camino. Of course My Father and I replaced items that were eventually needed under the hood such as a new alternater, Gasgets, windsheild wiper motor, and a distributer.

I was ready for my car to finally get painted, so I got an estamate on a paint job from Macco. I got my car painted and minor body work done for $1,200 in around mid-october. after I saw the new paint job I just couldnt believe it was the same car. The next thing I got done on my car was the windshield replaced for $200. I was happy untill my chrome exost tips looked like crap(The exost tips had holes from rust) I pollished them but the holes just grew so I got the chrome exost tips replaced for $55. I paid $250 for 2 12 inch pioneer subwooofers with two truck boxes, also paid $575 for a 700 watt alpine amp, two 4 inch eclipse tweeters, wirering and instolation. My Grandfather and I put a Brand new distributer in, in June 2004 I had a guy install a Crime Stopper Alarm for $150. My grandfather and I put Black vynle Camaro bucket seats in the elco in mid July 2004. Summer of 2004 ordered and recieved a 2-1/4" cowl induction hood for $410. September of 2004 Second paint job+ Body work $1000. Mid October Paid $1100 for 17 inch torq Thrusts. replaced battery and starter=$75 in december of 2004. As of march 2005 i got a new car alarm because my old one was a peice of crap(Crimestopper). New car alarm $360(PYTHON). July 2005 Finally ordered Bed clips Tailgate Chrome and All Weather Stripping $511.
