All in all, the cold air intake was pretty easy to do. Mac Performance did a good job of suppling everything needed in thier kit. The only complaints I have is one of the hose clamps for the large rubber fitting was barely big enough to fit around it and the air filter is hard to install. It would be great if the hole in the filter was off set. On a scale of 1 through 5, five being the most dificult, I give this installation a 1
Here's a quick shot of my engine compartment with the stock air intake.
This is everything that came in the box from Mac Performance.
Here is the factory intake. The only parts you have to keep is the mass air flow sensor and the wire harness.
Make sure to remove the cats for less flow restriction, hehe
At first I thought they sent me the wrong intake because the mass air flow sensor looked differant in thier instructions. That's because it's hidden inside the factory air box
My studly husband Chris shows you what the mass air flow sensor looks like when you remove it from the factory air box
Then you have to remove it from the backing plate so that you can bolt it on to the new front intake tube
Then remove the filter box from the fender well
The factory air intake removed. Now I can start my cold air intake installation
First install the fender plate
Next, install the throttle body tube
Be sure to use the MAF gasket that comes in the kit when you bolt the MAF to the front intake tube. Also, there is a second hole with a gromit in the tube for an air temp sensor. My model year doese not use the second hole, so be sure to remove the gromit and install the plastic plug that comes in the parts bag provided by Mac before you install the front intake tube.
Now I re-connect the wire harness to the mass air flow sensor
And the other end of the wire harness to the cars computer.
You have to remove the plastic barbed sleeve to connect the breather hose to the Mac intake tube
It's a tight fit, but Mac Performance positioned it just right, Thanks Mac
Here's a shot up inside the fender well. You can see how the air cleaner attaches to the front intake tube. What a pain in the ass it was to get it on correctly and tightend down, thanks Mac, lol
Here's a shot of the engine compartment with my new Mac Performance cold air intake. The blue rubber fittings that came with the intake system looked so good, it got me motavated to add a few more blue goodies. Doesn't it look HOT?
