This is my 1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 convertible. It is one of 1,977 made in 1970 and the last year of the smaller body style.

I bought this car not knowing much about it. It origonally had a 351C, but now it has a 351W. From what I can tell, the engine is mostly stock minus the headers. I added a Dynomax 2.5 inch dual exhaust.

The rear end is a posi, probably a 3.00, but I'm not exactly sure of the gears. The car screams off the line, 0-60 is probably around 5.5 seconds.

My plans for the car is to rebuild the 351W, replace the FMX with a TCI streetfighter transmission and pretty much restore the rest of the mechanical and suspension. It needs some body work, and then the last things will be paint and interior. The car will be mostly stock, but slightly modified. Maybe someday I'll get an origonal correct 351C for the car, but right now I just want to have fun with it.
