SBNova's 1971 Chevrolet Nova

This is my 1971 Chevy Nova that I have owned for a long time. It was my first car. It was originally a straight six/powerglide, had four drum brakes, and was very generic overall.

Almost every part has now been modified in one way or another.

Engine;
355 built by me, forged pistons, Scat crank, ARP bolts, Dart Sportsman ported heads, Comp rockers, Victor Jr intake, Holley 750 DP, K&N filter, aluminum HOWE radiator, electric fan from an 89 T/A keeps it cool and the lack of inner fenderwells keeps it dirty! Dynomax coated headers, Flomaster complete exhaust system.

Transmission:
2004r Overdrive built by me. Art Carr and TCI parts, all the good stuff. TCI 32-3800 stall. Oversized cooler and braided stainless lines.

Suspension;

Front- Added factory Discs, has all poly bushings, Moroso drag front springs that have sagged quite a bit in the last 15 years. Aftermarket fat sway bar for decent street handling. 15x4 custom narrowed rally wheels. 165SR15 tires.
SBNova's 1971 Chevrolet Nova Rear- 9" Ford disc brake, 3.50-1 gears, Made my own traction bars to mount shocks, shocks moved inboard of frame rail for mini tub (by me). Mono leafs traded for New multi leafs.

Body;
Was originally lt blue mettalic with a white painted top. It never had vinyl as far as I can tell. All molding on top and bodyside removed a long time ago. Front fenders and hood are fiberglass. Factory hood supports cut from stock fenders and attached to glass ones. Its the only way to stiffen the fenders and supply enough support for a hinged hood- trust me I tried many ways! Both rear quarter panels partially replaced, tail panel replaced, and drivers front floor replaced. All by me.

Interior;
Custom upholstery years ago. Geo metro front seats, factory rear. On my scond set of new carpet. All weatherstripping replaced years ago. Six point roll cage. New style lap/shoulder belts. B&M quicksilver shifter. Aftermarket A/C blowing through factory vents I pirated from a wreck.

My car is probably not as fast as it used to be, but it is definately more refined. This car is quick but can be driven anywhere, anytime.It gets almost 18mpg highway, 14 in town. It rides nice and drives easily except for those cold mornings (no choke at all).
