1985
Replacing the Hurst/Olds option after two years was the 4-4-2 package, with high-output 307 V-8, and special paint and suspension. The 4-4-2 name was revived. A total of 3,000 4-4-2 packages (RPO code W42) were produced. Features included a '4-4-2' door decal, 3.73:1 rear axle, super stock wheels and Eagle GT tires.

The Cutlass line displayed a revised front end. Coupe grills continued sloping forward, with crosshatch patterns on each side but split into three side-by-side segments. The sporty Salon added front and rear stabilizer bars, color-keyed Super Stock wheels, specific bodyside accent paint stripes, leather-wrapped steering wheel, contour reclining front bucket seats, sport console (with floor shift), Rallye instruments and color-keyed sport mirrors. Salon also had wheel opening and wide bodyside moldings. Optional engines were the diesel V-6 or V-8, and 307 cubic inch (5.0-liter) gas fueled V-8
