MrProject's 1991 BMW 5-Series

Work done:

100k (04/2002):
?h New Timing chain & tensioners
?h Repacked CVs and new boots
?h New Sach's clutch kit
?h Resurfaced flywheel
?h New tranny mount
?h New rear engine mount bolt
?h New spark plugs
?h New MFA control stalk
?h New OEM Wheel bearings (all)
?h Turned all rotors
?h High-quality 35% tint all around
?h Charged R134 AC
?h Redline MT-90 fluid in transmission
?h New fuel filter
?h New fuel pump
?h New Fuel, fan, ACP relays

110k(06/2003):
?h New Interstate battery
?h New 130A Alternator
?h New Ignition switch
?h New Kumho 712 tires 205/50/15
?h New Bilstien shocks/struts (4)
?h New Front LCA bushings (all)
?h New Rear shock mounts
?h New tie rod ends (both)
?h New steering control arms (both)
?h New PS Rack boots (both)
?h Front end alignment
?h Purchased used snow tires on steel rims: Michelin Arctic Alpin sport 195/55/15
?h New ABS impulse rotor installed
?h New accessory belt

113k(01/04):
?h Complete base/clear professional paint job. Whole car sanded, primed, and painted. Repairing minor collision damage (pics available) and fading/oxidization.
?h New front bumper cover (OEM)
?h New door handle seals (all)
?h New OEM antenna (entire unit)
?h New OEM Ignition Coil pack

Modifications:
?h Previous owner removed mid-muffler and installed straight pipe. Sounds like a subtle aftermarket exhaust.
?h Airbox cut slightly for freer flow and sound.
?h Single-CD Pioneer head unit installed by previous owner.

The Good:
Overall it??s a solid car with an amazing paint job (1 fresh rock chip) and a lot of recent work. It drives well, doesn??t burn oil (Castrol Syntec 5w-50 every 3-5k), and doesn??t leak any fluids. The VR6 has plenty of power and runs great. The transmission has never ground going into gear in my ownership. It looks great (new paint), drives tight (all new suspension), and makes great noises.

The Bad:
?h Front drive axles make ??clicking?? noise when turning sometimes. Need eventual replacement at $60/each.
?h Rear wheel bearing started making noise again recently. Only 13k on bearing, probably needs re-packing.
?h EGR valve will cause CEL if driven for over 2 hours on the highway. The light will go out the next day, and there is never any adverse effect on the car??s operation.
?h Driver??s seat leather is worn.
?h Steering wheel and shift knob leather covers were removed due to wear.
?h Broken clip on shift linkage temporarily repaired, replacement part for permanent fix is included.
?h Mounting brackets were broken on fog lights. Lights and all wiring are included, but new housings are needed ($75 for good used units)
?h MFA is intermittently functional
?h Cruise control is intermittent

Hey i like your taste, who cares what anyone else think of your car, as long as you like and you enjoy driving it (Enthusiastically). I want a E34 525i or 535i for my first car. i reckon that that they look really good from the factory and as BMW said it was their "Landmark" model, and i belive em'. You should come and check out my dad's stock 323i Exec' siometime and tell me what you think.
