This is how the REX looked when I picked her up. 4 hours away in Red Lion, PA. and $1500 later.
Worth the drive to find her!!

Not bad for a 20 year old car with 148,000 miles on her.

Even the interior was in great shape.

I'm the third owner of this car. The first owner was a car buff who bought a new REX ever 3 years. The person I bought her from put allot of work into her and kept every single receipt. I even have the original paper work and maintenance book. It shows that she was very well taken care of.
The first step was to rid the REX of all the cancer that has been building up on the wheel wells behind the storage bins. I have to say that I have respect for auto body shops after all the cutting and sanding I did to rid her of all of the rust. New sheet metal and welding will be done at a local auto body shop. Springdale Auto Body
$400 later and three days in the shop, she's as good as new! (Well almost.)

To make sure this never happens again, I put 4 layers of rubber undercoating on each wheel well. I then painted it with Rustolium matching the exterior color of the car.

I decided to update the look of the interior, so I purchased some Euro Glow Gauges off of EBAY. These things are cool. They make the dash look very modern, with the white gauge look. When you put the lights on they glow a cool blue or green color (you get to choose). They came with no instructions, but anyone can install them with minimal talent. I just hooked the transformer in line with the parking light wire. Just take your time. Worth the $24 I paid!!

Washed and waxed 2/28/04. Getting ready for the spring, still only 55 degrees.

Installed my new Grant Evolution steering wheel and shift knob. I picked them up from Summit Racing. This is a very simple way to make your interior look awesome, and it only took 30 minutes to do.
I also put in new Auto Meter gauges. An Air/Fuel Ratio, Water Temp and Oil Pressure. I found a 1/8 to metric kit at Autozone for the Oil Pressure sender, but I have to have an adaptor made for the Water Temp. Here is a picture of where they go.

The bottom left is the water temp the other is oil pressure.
These gauges were very straight forward to put in. The hardest part was making the new face plate. I had some 1/4" ABS plastic left over to make it. Just took some time to do it right.

8/13/04 I was going to have a custom adaptor made to fit the new Temp sensor in, but the shop said it can't be done. I decided to take another look inside the bay. Wow, I found another way to put the water temp sensor in. To the front of the engine is a hex screw just sitting there. I unscrewed it and out came radiator fluid. NICE!!!!!!! I put the adaptor that came with the unit and here it is.
I also mounted the oil pressure gauge in with an metric to 1/8" adaptor.

5/19/06 Well it looks like the 20 year old gas tank desided to piss all over the place. Since a new one is $450, I desided to fix it. Por 15 makes a complete kit to do it all for around $120. I also needed a new fuel sending unit from Mazdatrix $111.
Pics of the completed project. I think it looks new!
