Interior Mods
I originally fitted some Lockwood Cream coloured dials, but changed them for some white sftMX5 parts ones, I also coloured the white needles with Red nail varnish.
Nice at Night
June 2005
Bored with white dials - i switched back to the OEM look but these light up red at night, i couldnt see my red needles against the black so painted them orange :-)
Momo Race steering wheel and I had the Instrument cowl sprayed with Nextel Suede Coating www.nextel.co.uk as used on BMW's,this has eliminated the glare that I used to get from the original high gloss plastic finish. The finish itself is similar to that of a blackboard, and was done by www.mpmfinishers.com and cost about £45 + p&p
I wanted an interior clock but couldn't find one I liked-apart from the Mazda OEM one but thats well expensive!!!!!!
Whilst looking at Geepee's Cardomain site I notice he had a smart clock fitted,so I emailed him to find out where he got it from?
Answer the Renault 19 :-), these come up on ebay now & again, but I went to the breakers yard again ;-)
After removing the plastic blanking plate from below the radio (held in from behind with 4 screws) I had to adapt the plate so that i could fit it the other way round so that the headlight dipping switch is on the left & not the right-basically just cutting more slots easy with a Dremmel & needle file
Extra slots cut
Looks OEM :-),simply wired it into the Radio power supply, for those wanting to do the Mod. heres the wiring on the back of the Clock, but best to get it checked by an autoelectrician just in case.
1-Live(permanent)
2-Lighting
4-Negative
only problem when lit its an amber light not green like my dials-oh well !!!!!
note peeling dash :-(
21.06.05 new grey burr walnut trim fitted :-)
Whilst doing this I fitted a starter button, leather handbrake and shift gaitors and an alloy gear knob looks and feels great, all from SFTMX5 parts
I'm not a fan of shiny interior bits so I had the new alloy knob powder coated in a Black Crinkle finish, the same as MGB dashborads, now it blends in perfectly
Mike Staur Boxer Roll Hoop/windstop
I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to fit this because of the glass rear window in my hood, luckily it just fits
