The Isuzu Trooper is manufactured in Isuzu's Fujisawa Plant, one of Japan's largest production facilities, located about 25 miles south of Toyko.
The Trooper has been awarded many time over, including: 1985 4x4 of the Year (Peterson Publishing), 1986 1st Place Baja 100 Miles Off-Road race, 1988 Two Troopers take 1st & 2nd in the International Silk Road Rally, 1989 Trooper Turbo Diesel with Intercooler wins 1989 Off-Road Diesel of the Year (germany), 1990 Trooper places 1st and 2nd in the Australian Safari Rally, 1992 Trooper wins Stock Standard Class in the Australian Safari Rally, 1993 Two Troopers take 1st & 2nd it the non-modified stock-standard class at the Australian Safari Rally, and most recently a Trooper won the Marathon Class in the Paris-Dakar-Paris rally. This was the first time a vehicle had won this class without factory sponsorship! Each Marathon class must complete the 13,000KM (8125mi) without changing any major parts of the vehicle. (in other words, if something breaks, you are disqualified)
This was also the first time any vehicle had ever won this class without using a support vehicle. They did it all on their own!!!
