The August Show has passed and I left empty handed, didn't even place. The judges were whack. I can't wait til Dec. when Hot Import Daze comes down. I had the whole interior redone and seats reupolsterd. I also added a VIS carbon fiber front lip. How's my cousins?

project_c2's 1991 Honda Civic Hey guys, been tweaking my car a little. Just so happened Hypersports had some free openings in their schedule, so I pulled a dyno run. Check it out. My own custom fabricated kit; 224 HP w/ 10 PSI on a B16A. A/F not even eclipsing 12:1. The actual torque should be something like 172 ft/lbs, but there was a spike when the VTEC kicked into the high lift cam. My original estimation was 210 HP. I was blown away by the results. Later I am going to try installing a VTEC AFC to see if I can lean out the low end, way too rich. I am also running my ignition @ 19 BTDC. Everybody says it's over advanced, but there's enough fuel in there to cool down the cylinder, I guess. EGT about 1250 degrees. Check out hypersportsracing.com Until next time.

project_c2's 1991 Honda CivicI don't have much room for a Fluidyne radiator, so I'll cheat a little.=) I used the Spoon thermostat (fully open by 160 degrees) and low temp fan switch. The fan switch was already installed on the engine when I got it. Works great with the FAL fan. Costs less than buying a Fluidyne radiator.=) Car runs just above 190 degrees with the A/C on.
Check out page one and two. Updated pics of engine bay. I/C pipes painted House of Kolor: Kandy Apple Red w/ silver base.

I ended up going with a GReddy turbo timer. Full auto based on rpm. I got a clock filler panel from a Civic 4 spd. Cut to fit. Looks good, little rough, but it works.

project_c2's 1991 Honda Civic This is the boost controller hooked up. I mounted the solenoid right behind the headlight. The controller changes the duty cycle of this solenoid to control reference pressure to the wastegate, in turn "controlling" boost. A MAP sensor supplied with the boost controller determines actual vac/boost pressure. The control unit fit perfetly into the area where my ashtray used to be, I don't smoke anyway.

project_c2's 1991 Honda Civic Today, I decided to install the pyrometer, also known as EGT, gauge. I first center punched the down pipe and then drilled a pilot hole. I didn't have a 9/16" drill bit, so I used a slow speed air drill w/ a reamer to make it the size I needed. That's the fitting sitting on top.

project_c2's 1991 Honda CivicI used a MIG welder and welded up the fitting to the downpipe. I know, the weld looks like sh*t. I then wrapped the downpipe and installed the pyrometer probe. Ran the wiring and replaced my A/F ratio gauge with the EGT gauge. That's more important than the A/F ratio. I'll probably mount the A/F gauge next to the others on the dash. Til next week...peace!

project_c2's 1991 Honda CivicThis is a pic of the underneath of my car when I finished fabricating the downpipe. I ended up having to resurface the downpipe flange. Warped a little from the welding. I wrapped up the downpipe with exhaust wrap recently, it was too close to the oil pan. Yeah, right like that's really a catalytic converter?=) I'll keep everybody posted. I'll be doing some work on it this weekend, the 8th. Post up on the 9th hopefully.
