Well, in highschool, i started to get serious about hot rods and customization. So my last two years of school, I enrolled in our high schools Automotive Technology program via our Technical School that is part of the high school, and used it as my senior project. This is my third, of five Camaros i've owned, but my second real attempt at a street rod. As my project I pulled the fatigued engine just for the usual overhaul, but got carried away...
After I had finished cleaning and machining the reusable portions of the factory engine, i installed the following:
-Block was machined .030 over
-9.8:1 Hypereutectic Speedpro pistons
-Crane Powermax Hydraulic Roller / computer compatible Cam
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 214 int./220 exh.
Advertised Duration: 270 int./276 exh.
Valve Lift: 0.452 int./0.465 exh.
Lobe Separation (degrees): 112 degrees
-Full Ported L98 Cylinder heads
vavle size 1.95 int. / 1.50 exh.
chamber size 64cc
intake runner 170cc
-Ported Intake Runners
-Crane Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
-EGR delete plate
-Hedman Full length headers
-custom true dual exhaust(these cars were NOT designed for this)
Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers with turn downs
-B&M Shift kit
-4 Fresh BFG Radial T/A's
These pictures were taken shortly after the break in period for the fresh engine had passed, and I removed the IROC stripes and door decals.
Heres my wall of fame. Only one Plaque to brag about, but it also was the only show I've entered since building the car in high school. The green 92' RS next to mine in the photo is my good friend Lucas's. I blame him for getting me started in this, because he had his Camaro first
This was a satisfying improvement for a short time, given i pulled that off going to high school, working part time at a fast food place! But about a year and a half ago, I decided to push it a bit further. So i started tearing the car apart agian. Page 2 will have the updates and newest photos, taken this past summer, showing the progress.
