1969 Galaxie 500 XL Convertible
1969 LTD 2-Door Formal Top
In 1967 Ford used virtually the same body lines as the 1966. Ford moved the turn signal lamps from the grill to the bumper as well as all new molding and ornamentation. The 1967 had great styling, and actually had great similarity in appearance to the 1967 Fairlane.
On 4/1/67 the Ford made an immediate news bureau release of a XL Interceptor. The car never made it to production, but here is the prototype. You can see some style cutes in the grill that did make to the Galaxie/LTD in 69.
Here you see my 67 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible next to my 69 Ford LTD 2-Door Formal Top equipped with vacuumed flip-up headlights.
The car new was priced at $3,003.23 and has a current NADA average value of $12,040.00. There were 877,127 examples produced of the 18 models available in the 1967 Ford Full-Size lineup, but there were only 19,068 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible produced.

The factory 289ci Challenger V8 was replaced with a 240ci I6 at some time, and the factory Candyapple Red (not a type o) paint was replaced with Wimbledon White.
This is what the car will look like once completed. What I would like to do is make a full size version of the 67 Fairlane GTA. Only with a 429 or 460 combo.
