New head unit install; Sony CDX-CA710X, on sale at BB that weekend. Installed new 6.5 Pioneer speakers too.

Though not exactly what I might have wanted, I really wanted to get a new HU in, and I thought the shape of the display resembles the ac control panel.

Installing the speakers required minor modifications. Removed the plastic "brace" behind the factory grills and drilled new mounting holes in the door panel.

Sounds really good. Having been an audio engineer in a past career, I am picky; I was impressed with the combo.

The cubby tray below actually came with the new HU I put in our Subaru, not sure why, but it turns out it fit well in the Miata. Still need to dress the empty space. I hacked the blanking plate that was there.

Had some strong rain down here this week. The Miata did not fair well. The molding/weather striping was not adjusted properly and both seats and floor were soaking wet. So out came the seats and all the carpet.

I cleaned everything up, not rust at all. And lined the entire cabin with a material called ?Refectix?, bubble pack with foil on both sides, to see if it would provide any sound damping properties. The result is marginal, but I did get rid of the felty stuff, so if rain ever makes it in side again it will not soak.

Sorry, did not have the camera when I did it, you can see a little of the reflectix on the inside of the door skins. The above pic was taken while hunting down a 3.8k rattle in the door that is driving me crazy!

Hey man that is a Sweet Car! Check out my NB! Some people on the Miata.net forums are planning a drive to Clewiston from South Florida, but I am sure they wouldn't mind someone comming down from O-Town. Again beautiful ride. Zoom Zoom!
