HOW TO: Installing Lexus-style yellow fog lights into the OEM Maxima housing.

irish44j's 2000 Nissan Maxima

What you will need:
- Yellow glass bulb sheath from HIDTECH.com. I used the 9006, since it is larger than the H3 one.
- 5-minute epoxy (high heat preferably)
- Flathead screwdriver
- small Philips head screwdriver
- utiliy blade/Xacto knife
- high-temperature clear silicone

1. Remove fog lights from car
2. Remove all wiring and back housing from fog light assembly, inlcuidng bulb and ground wire.
3. Put in oven at around 250-300 degress for about 10-15 minutes. Whn you remove it, be careful...it WILL be hot (duh)
4. Once removed, use flathead and some arm strength to pry (carefully) and pull off the front plastic lens of the fog light assembly (glass in the 2002-3 maxima). Dont forget to remove the 2 small screws on the sides of the lens that hold it in also.
5. Remove the reflector thing that sticks up in the middle of the light. Keep it in case you ever want to put it back to stock.

6. Now, you will need to drill three small holes in the reflector. You need to mark the location by lining up the straigtened legs of the bulb yellow cover so that it will be centered over the bulb in the assembly. Once drilled, stick the legs thorugh to the backside and bend them over to secure the yellow cover. I used some JB Weld to secure them even more....Sorry, no pics of this, but it's pretty self-explanatory, I hope!

7. Let it dry good.
8. Now...you need to get most of the old silicone out of the "groove" where the lens goes...use a knife of some sort. This is a pain in the ass, but needs to be done so the light can be resealed.
9. After that's done, put a bunch of liquid silicone in the groove, reattach the lens, put in the two retaining screws.
10. Now you need to cut three small holes in the reflector piece, making sure they line up with the three "legs" on the glass yellow cover. Straighten the legs and stick them through the holes so they go to the backside of the fog light assembly. Make sure the glass part is centered/vertical over the bulb. Then bend the legs over to secure the assembly. I used some JB Weld to further secure the legs, though it probaly wasn't necessary.
11. Let dry a few hours at least
12. Reassemble back part (bulb, retainer, ground wire, etc.) of assembly.
13. Re-install into the car

Here's what you get:
(this is using my OEM 55W bulbs). DO NOT USE BULBS WITH HIGHER WATTAGE THAN 55W FOR ANY REASON. THEY WILL OVERHEAT THE YELLOW GLASS SHEATH AND IT WILL BREAK!!
