REASON:
Due to various photos of horrifying rollover accidents, and a close member encountering the same scene without coming out unharmed, it alerted me how important a rollbar is. Many have debated on the reason for a rollbar, and I've read most it. Some don't want one, due to weight reasons, daily lifestyle change, restriction to the rearview, and the unknown to what might happen if you get rearended. My reason is that it's going to give you a chance to save your life, period!
INSTALLATION:
Installation was a pain for me, but I had other problems when tearing the insulation out, rust problems! After that, not too hard to pull your hair out, but my inexperience drilling destroyed one drill bit. I found these instructions to be the most useful.
RESULTS:
I couldn't tell much of tighting of the rearend of the Miata, but maybe a little bit. Rearview isn't disturbed like some would think it to be. Seatbelts are a little bit of an obstacle to get to, but nothing to be down about. Rear seat travel isn't limited, but reclining is affected, so beware long leg drivers. The zipper plastic window is affected. You won't be able to lay it down flat anymore, but it's still can be used for those open rear window occasions. My 1/4 way torn zipper has swifted me away from unzipping it. I also use a cloth protected tube when I put the top down, as you can't unzip, lay window down, and put the top down anymore. Boot cover has to be modified if you intend to continue the use of it. Cost for me at a local upholstry shop was $50. Took about 30 minutes for them to do, and it included some nice velcro straps to keep the boot from hovering up.
SFI padding is greatly recommended, as it can give you a chance when your head gets a blow from the bar, and it won't catch on fire like other paddings. Please do use a cover on it, as mines has gotten old from the constant sun rays.
Overall, this modification is by far the smartest I've made to my Miata. It also adds that "mean business look" to it.
