Suicidedoors.com 5-Link Install:
This page documents the install of my 5-link. This was done during the month of April 2005. All the work was done by myself and the other members of Totally Tricked.
These pics show the destruction of a perfectly good S-10 frame and the assembly of the 5-link.
Relocated holes for gas tank and relocated leaf spring hanger.
Old crossmembers out new in and rear end removed and prepaired for welding.
Rear crossmembers and the begining of my drag bar. The rearend all welded up and ready for paint.
Begining to install the notch and making my shock mount bar a bolt-in.
Notch installed and finished, shock mount installed, and starting extra crossbar.
All finished and ready to assembly and hittin massive side to side.
Disassembled for paint and cutting the bed out.
The following pics are of the parts of the 5-link and some that I added to it.
The rear lift bars with gussets I added to them and my mount for the exhaust and evap canister.
All of the parts ready for paint.
All the parts sprayed with professional undercoating and ready for final assembly.
Valves assembled and ready to install.
The following pics are of the final assembly of the 5-link.
Frame striped, cleaned, sprayed, and ready for assembly.
Rearend sprayed and in place.
Evap canister bracket installed.
Finished assmbly ready to test.
Temporary tank hooked up and frame lays for the first of many times.
More pics of the frame on the ground, I just like seeing that.
Pics of 5-link finished outside being cleaned before we put the bed on.
Pics of it all done with the bed back on.
I feel much better after doing that.
Just a look at every that I got rid of.
Now some pics of the carrier bearing x-member I made. I have been told that you don't need to raise this on pre 98 models. Mine hung below the frame so it had to go.
Stock x-member gone and new sitting with the old.
New x-member installed.
Ok now the best part, my drag bar. It's super beefy and with my titanium drag blocks mounted to it I can let the sparks fly.
