Some picture of the new raider with the new 33" tires.

Stock versous 33" Mud Kings

I need to trim the fenders because of the backspacing on the rims, they stick out about 2.5 to 3 " passed the fender and when I turn they rub BAD.

While the aluminum bushbars have come and gone. I wish I could say I sold them, But I rearended some guy at a construction site traffic signal when he stop unexpectedly. I got out of my truck and tried to bend them back away form the grill to open the hood to check the rad and they snap off. I through them off to the side of the road and left them there. Some lucky construction worker probaly found them the next morning and took them home.

THE OLD 1988 RAIDER

Thanks for checking out our page. My girlfreind and I own a '87 dodge raider. So far the only mods we've done was a set of 33x12.5x15 mudders on 15" rodeo rims. I have only managed to get the truck stuck twice, both were due to driver error(me).

Since we owned the truck it was loosing rad fluid, then the head blow due to a crack where in the valve guide area. Which I found out is common on the 2.6L 4 cylinder mitsubishi engine. Also the power steering pump has a slow leak which is also common.

Our second time out with the truck we met up with some of the guys who live and sleep off roading and you can tell by the look of their rigs. They convinced me that I could make it through the mud hole, I wasnt sure but went for it anyways. The truck cruised through the goo with no problem. After making it through with such ease they told me to go again, but backwards. I made it through, but a bit slower. A couple of the guys were not pleased at this because they had just gotten stuck doing the same thing. After wheeling some other trails, we were back at the pit and I ran it again. This time I got stuck, the first time with this I ever was stuck. One of the guys who had gotten stuck earlier was more than pleased to winch me out with his 12000lbs warn.

After a day of mudding you can take a trail that leads down a 30deg. concrete bank to the old welland canal were the water is about 3 feet. We go down there to wash off and mess around in the water.

Shaping the rear bumper,My girlfreind was tring to cross a ditch that was to steep and narrow. The front end went in and up, the rear end went in but she couldn't make it up, So we exited in reverse and rolled the rear bumber into a 'C'shape and rippped off the left plastic corner. The bumper has since been replaced, from a extra bumper from my parts raider after I sandeed done, reprimed and painted it. Looks better then ever.

THE TIRES;
33"x12.5"x15" tires installed with no modifacations on stock size rims but from I rodio. No gear ratio changes. The front and spare rims were ground out to fit over the raider's massive hubs.

Wow that is a great looking van/truck, looks like alot of fun in the mud, there is so much that can be done to it. I don't understand why your rating is so low? Here I bumped ya up. I have Dodge too, it has a few mods. I would never make it in the mud with it.

Now that is an awesome raider! I dont see many Raiders taken off-road, though they are capable enough, most people would rather commute in them. Glad to see somebody doing something differently. Come check out my 69 Patrol.

Before anything put a bigger motor in there. and if you go with a v8 i recomend a bigger rear end. Your best bet is to buy an older jeep 4x4 cherokee with an inline six(for cheap) and put the engine and axles and trans. Then you will be unstoppable. But you will have to get mitsibishi to jeep connectors for it.
