THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME
---------------------------------
"Caesar" was so dubbed by our family when they bought him new, before I was old enough to talk. I am told the reason for choosing "Caesar" as his name was that at the time, we had an early-80's Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that was named Cleo, a shortened version of Cleopatra. Those who know their history will understand this reference...those who don't, well I'm not going to explain it further than that so I suggest Google.com be your next stop.

THE STORY OF CAESAR
---------------------------------
Caesar has been our family's longest-kept car. He was bought by my father in the end of 1986 as one of the last few 86's available, and served as my father's office-commuter for the first four years. In 1990, when the lease was up and my father upgraded to a new car, Caesar was handed down to my mother, who drove him for the next several years while my father went through a Pontiac Bonneville for a short time, then a Dodge Shadow for a thankfully even shorter time, and a 1992 Chevy Corsica. In 1996 when my father upgraded to a Lumina APV and my mother took over the Corsica, Caesar became my sister's car. She drove it for numerous years until August of 2004, when she leased her own car and Caesar became officially mine. Since then I have struggled to keep it alive after going through 3 sometimes-neglectful drivers/owners.
During this time I have been building up plans for Caesar's restoration. Some have questioned, made fun of, and otherwise ridiculed my decision to do so, but whereas most see Caesar as just another trash car, I see a car that, these days, you don't see on the road any more that isn't in near-death condition. Why put another Honda Civic on the road when I can have a car that hardly anybody else has now?
Unfortunately the car has recently been taken off the road due to structural issues...the engine cradle collapsed on one side and rendered the car undrivable, even for short distances. The car is almost 20 years old so I figure this isn't an unexpected problem. And it doesn't really matter because I'll be pretty much stripping the car bare and starting from scratch. So that's the story.
