PAGES 1-4 FOR CADILLAC SEVILLE, PAGE 5 FOR AMC JAVELIN AMX
Here are a few pictures of our 1981 Cadillac Seville, it has the Elegante option and the infamous 368cid V8-6-4. The car was sold new in the UK and has therefore got different rear lights than the American version to comply with British law that turning signals should be amber.
These photo's were taken at the dealership where I bought the car from in Hull. When I picked up the car I had to drive it for 258 miles back to Kent which took about 4 hours. On the normal roads it managed to average about 21.5 mpg and on the motorways I managed to get a average of 20.1 mpg which is pretty good for this size engine. the engine runs permanently on all 8 cylinders and has had a 4 speed transmission fitted.
The interior is in very good condition, had to play around with the wiring a bit to get the driver powerseat and central locking to work again but that took me just a few minutes. The fake wood looks a bit plasticy especially for a company who once owned their own hardwood forest, but safety regulations prohibited the use of real wood.
With the centre armrest down the seats feel just like a nice comfy armchair. The powersteering is very light so it doesn't give a lot of 'road feel' but then you can't really drive a car of this size too enthusiastically around the twisty little country roads we have around here.
Another picture of the interior. The good thing with a 4 door car is that it doesn't have much of a blind spot, having the steering wheel on the wrong side for the UK means that any blindspots can be as much as a gamble as Russian Roulette at roundabouts and junctions.
