Got some new leds!
This is a single red/orange led, 3.42 volts and 1 amp, and 190 lumens
This one here is a blue led,

I think its about 25 lumens
well I did some work, pics coming soon, here's a few movies though

Wow it's been awhile...got the current driver boards created.

Update 10/30/04
I tried putting alittle fog into the car with a fog machine. It looks pretty sweet (Alot better than these pics)

Here's a reason why you shouldnt attempt this...

I've decided to use my cig. lighter as my switch to turn these lights on and off with. here's a quick picture to show you how I did it. It'll work as long as what ever you connect to it doesnt draw a whole lot of amps (less than 5 should be ok). If it draws more the cig. lighter will heat up and pop out (like it's supposed to).
(stupid firewall at work wont let me upload the pic, I'll post it later.)
The first leds I put in kinda SUCKED. so I'm going to redo them.

Here's a little jig I made up to solder the wires to the leds. Heres the roof with most of the led s attached.
Looks a lot cleaner
I installed 62 blacklight LED's in the roof.

The top of the roof.

The roof reinstalled, and the roof with the LEDs on, the pictures were taken from approximatly the same position (there are a few LED's that weren't working when I took the picture, I have most of them fixed now)

Another shot of the leds

The circuit board to drive the LED's
Im using a LM3915 VU meter IC for beat detection
This is hooked up to a binary counter, whenever a beat is detected, the counter will count up and change the LEDs that are currently on.

5 volt regulators mounted on a heatsink

An animated pic of the lights, not the greatest pic, but it'll have to do for now

This pic shows the location of the location of the board.

The backside of the old board. yuk.
UPDATE 9-24-04
I'm in the process of redsigning it. I'm gonna use some much brighter blue leds, and some shift registers. might even throw a microcontroller in there for the heck of it.
Here's a breadboarded version of the new driving circuit (the 2 rows of white things are the LEDs). That doesnt even have the full control ability that I want/need. I'm gonna be making my own printed circuit boards for it too.
