Bigger is better.
These are some of the before pics of my 85 Jeep Cherokee. It came stock with a GM 2.8 V6 that was really weak. I wanted V8 power with out having to upgrade my tranny and transfer case. Since the 2.8 is a 60 deg. V6, I did not have many options. I did alot of research and found that the Cadillac 4.1,4.5,and 4.9 were 90 deg. V8 engines with 60 deg. bolt pattern. So I would not have to change anything else. I got a good deal on a 89 Cadillac Seville with a 4.5 tbi V8 that had been rolled over. The motor sounded good. With a little help from a good friend, we started the swap.
This is what the 2.8 looked like before it became scrap.
We stripped the donor vehicle for anything we could possibly need. After removing all the extra stuff off the engine, we were able to set it in for the first time. Believe it or not, it bolted right up with no problem. That was just a trail fit so we still had to cut the bell housing on the tranny for the Caddy starter which is on the other side of the engine. Here are some of the pics of the trial fit.

After we knew it would work, we made some mounts that were unique to say the least.
Once we had those figured out, we sent the engine to another shop to get custom one of a kind headers made. As you can tell, I still have a good bit of room left.

With the new engine mounted, I did the fuel injection harness myself. I mounted the ECM and went to town on the wiring. It was not that bad once you get rid of what you don't need. After getting some exhaust on it and the bugs in the wiring worked out, the finished product is awesome.

Of course I had to customize it a little.

The only thing left to do is paint it camo, mount the Cadillac hood ornament, and finish paying for the 33x10.5 SS TSL's, then no one will ever laugh at my little Cherokee again. As it is right now the bumper is 26" off the ground with the 30" Yokohama Geolander M/T's.
