mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida

Hey what's up, you might have seen my car on here before as pimpintoy, but that page was outdated to shit so I decided to make a new one.

Install progress pics as of November 11, 2003

I started building the box on my day off today and I just thought I'd put up some pics of the progress so far...

Here is my box design. 3 cubes ported to 34hz. The design was custom created for me by a friend who works in the industry. I was given the drawing on the left, and from that, generated the drawing on the right.

All the pieces just after they were cut. I put the port together to get an idea of what it would look like as well.

A couple bad pictures of the box in progress, one with the port inside, and one without.

A test fit of the box in my trunk. It fits WAY better than my old box, this one can slide almost right to the back of the trunk for lots of room in the front.

I had some finished install pics with everything being said and done but it looks like i deleted them, so those 3 pics above are the best I have for now, but believe me, it's sweet. Everything is bolted down and the wiring looks about as good as it ever will, so it's quite awesome. Updated pics will be up as soon as I can get them taken.

And last but not least, the money shot. Just finished cutting the holes for the subs when I took this pic, and they are just resting in there on top of the box. The port isn't in yet in that pic either. As of the time I am typing this, the box has been sealed and the port secured to the front plane of the box.

So that's where I'm at so far, hopefully tomorrow I can finish off, all I have to do is make a hole for the wiring terminal, put in the polyfill, wire it up, secure on the front piece, do a little more sealing and then it should be ready for a test run... oh yeah I've also got to carpet it to, but that shouldn't be too much work to get done tomorrow... at least I hope it isn't, I've been waiting forever to hear it, and it's finally starting to come together :)

The new equipment...

Only a few days after everything was ripped out of my car, I bought a new amp and cap. I went with the Rockford Fosgate 1001BD for an amp and got a Stinger 1 farad cap to go accompany it. Here's some pics of when I first picked it up:

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida All the gear before it even came out of the box. What a sweet sight :) Opening those packages was like opening up presents on Christmas, only I had to pay for these myself.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida Everything out of the box and laid out.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida The amp and cap by itself. I'm sitting here jonesing to get it in so I can see how it sounds but I've got to wait forever :(, oh well...

I ordered a Kicker 12L7 from the same dealer I bought my amp at, but got sick of waiting for it to come in, so instead, I went out to a sale and bought a pair of Phoenix Gold Titanium 10's, and here they are:

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida Top view, nothing special but it gives you an idea of what these subs might be able to do. I particularly like the aluminum cone and the fat surround.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida A view of the magnet. I consider these to be huge for a 10" sub, much bigger than the Focals that I was originally looking at. Overall I walked out there very satisfied with my purchase.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida Just for fun, here's a pic of some red and blue strobe lights that I put in. They aren't insanely bright so they aren't real heaty, but I just think they're hilarious to have.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida Here's another with them on my dash. It was really hard to get a pic with one of them flashing, let alone both...

Some pictures of the damage from the theives...

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida My trunk lock. Looks like they tried to hack it up with a screwdriver so they could pop it open but I don't think they were successful because I couldn't figure out how they popped it with this way, so I'm guessing the reason that they broke my window was to reach in and pull the trunk release.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida This is the panel that my amp was on. Obviously it wasn't all bent out like that before. I don't know why those idiots reefed on it... some people are retarded.

mega_hz's 1982 Toyota Cressida Here is what I USED to be bumping. I know it's only some hurting Xplodes but it was all that I had and could afford so I was happy with it for the time being (I had it about 2 years before it got stolen).

That's it for now, install pics will be here as soon as the sub gets in, so stay tuned. Oh yeah, sign my guestbook and let me know what you think.
