When I purchased my 7...the BMW CPT-4000 phone cradle was missing the phone handset. I guess the previous owner wanted to keep it as a souvenir.

I was going to replace the whole thing with the solid armrest like this one...until I was told it cost $360 from the dealer.

It's not difficult to install the tray, but there are some connections you must disconnect underneath the phone cradle...it starts with removing the trays to access the (4) torx T20 screws that secures the cradle.

Undo this connector first. It may be buried beneath the metal...if so, pull it up and through one of the openings to disconnect it. Then move the arm rest forward and remove the panel that covers the other (2) connectors.

QTouring's 1997 BMW 7-Series Unscrew the connector on the left to disconnect the phone jack connector. Be careful not to snap off phone connector underneath the plastic. The screws loosen but do not neccessarily come out of the connector. After disconnecting the phone jack...screw the connector back down.

This is what we're trying to accomplish...removing phone cradle & inserting the replacement tray.
