Page two: the Subaru-breed

Since Volkswagen dropped the flat-four engine, only Porsche among major brands stay with this concept. The advantage is, that with the cylinders lying flat pointing in opposite directions, the center of gravity is kept low. Personally I like this engine, and it even sounds like a small V8!
There are some disadvantages, however. It is definetely more expensive to build an engine with to separate cylinder heads and four cams. Repairs are akward and fuel consumption relatively high. However, the punch and sound makes up for all this and more.
Subaru already has a long motorsport history, with several Manufacturers Title in WRC (World Rally Championship).
Their weapon is the Impreza WRC. The street version of this car is the Impreza WRX, on which the Forester S-turbo is based.
Pictures on this page: showing my Forester s-turbo and Rune Danneborg's Impreza Group N4. The car is an extensively modified WRX and the Group N4 is a very popular rally class.
