These are Concepts that I photoshoped to get an idea of the direction I really want to go with the Merc. I already know the stance I want, which will be achieved through the use of a triangulated 4 link with Air Ride Shockwaves suspending the '96 Explorer rear end and up front it will have a Mustang II IFS with air bags. I also know I want to keep the car clean and classy with hidden modern upgrades everywhere. I think that's why I like this concept the best. The red is bold and completely Hot Rod but its also very simple and isn't distracting from those beautiful body lines. With that I included a tan leather interior to keep that classy look but with modern materials.
With this Concept I was going for the primer and flames look, kinda like a rat rod. To continue that sort of 50's Hot Rod look I went with a bright red interior and the back end of the car would likely have a few little pinstriping details to keep it from looking plain. This concept was kind of important because this is likely how shes gonna look for the first few summers, just so I can get out there and enjoy the cruise.
This one is pretty much the same, I wanted to see it with solid colours. Red was the only one that worked, likely because the interior is red.
"True Blue" was a one year colour option on the 2003 SVT Lightning, originally, this was the colour I wanted to go with because I thought it was such an awesome colour, but I ultimately decided it was a little plain for a hot rod, so I ditched that idea. That's not to say it doesn't look good, I think it looks great, I just wanted something more bold.
But not this Bold.I typically don't like orange on Hot Rods, but I had seen a '40 Ford Tudor Sedan in the same Colour and it looked amazing. So I thought I would give it a try and... I've decided to leave orange to the Muscle Cars. I think the silver flames give it a cool kinda edge though.
Finally, the white one. I like white on cars just because Its clean and simple, but once again, I'm not a fan of the colour on hot rods. It just doesn't do them justice. It might be because the white doesn't give a lot of depth, which is so important because with such soft and smooth body lines you need a colour that almost exaggerates them.
Photochopped! This is just a picture I made up of the new Charger. I knew That car should have been a two door. It's so disappointing that they made it a sedan, its bad enough they ruined the Charger name in the 80's, now they're just adding insult to injury. Anyway, I chopped out the rear doors and stretched the front end to give it back that real Muscle Car look. I then changed the colour to the classic "Gomango" orange and gave it 2003 Mach 1 Magnum Wheels and Redline low profile tires.
