Alright. Here is more of a log of what I have done so far.

Sept 16, 2003
Brought the car home. My long search for a 240 or 260 Z is now over and it is mine.

Sept. 17, 2003
Stripped off the old vinyl roof that somone installed over the years. It was painted underneath so it looks like it was not originally on the car.

Sept. 23, 2003
Tonight was just a little bit of basic work. Basicly I had my brother out there with me swapping out spark plugs. The ones in there are so dark with carbon it was scary. Definantly running rich.

Sept. 27, 2003
Went ahead and swapped out the old fuel filter today. It was not too bad so it may have been swapped out recently but who knows.

Oct. 1, 2003
Started taking off the air filter canister and removed it so that i can a.) replace the filter with a K&N one since Nissan stopped carrying them and b.) remove the carbs for a rebuild.

Oct. 10, 2003
Okay this weekend I need to get some work done on this car. I am hoping to replace the clutch slave cylinder but I will need to find a hose to replace to broken one.

Oct. 14, 2003
Well I found out that the hose has to be ordered in. I have ordered one but will not be to me for a few days. I am hoping that maybe I can have it by this weekend but am doubtfull. I did however get in a K&N filter to replace the one that is in there now.

Well I started stripping bumpers and things like that since I am waiting on parts to come in still. I am waiting on my brake lines and clutch slave cylinder hose. The bumpers are kind of a pain to remove since they are rusted over. Then I wound up smashing them with a hammer at the place where the bolts are to loosen them up a bit. Tons of rust fell off and I wound up cutting the stuck bolts off with a sawzall. I then snapped off almost all the bolts in the body holding on other pieces of trim. Time to get a back out kit going to remove those.

October 28, 2003
Thought I was going to get some work done this weekend but no. I had to get tires for my Maxima which turned into a three hour ordeal and sucked up the whole time I had planned to do work. The good thing is though I finally got in the hose for the clutch slave cylinder and assembled the parts and cleaned the old ones. I am hoping to get this in soon so I can at least move it again and move onto a new section of work. Maybe this weekend or one night this week.

December 23, 2003
Yeah, it has been way too long. But work has been completed. December really took a slow down but as of right now I have stripped the exterior of tail lights, side marker lights, front blinkers, front bumper, antenna, chrome around the roof and the chrome around the windows. Then on the inside I took out the seats, carpeting and juke underneath it. I am hoping to maybe get some more work done on Friday since we have the day after Christmas off. Oh yeah there are now pictures available that I am uploading too.

Okay I fell way behind on updating here. But I now have done a few more things. The clutch slave cylinder works right now and I have pressure back in the clutch. The inside floors are scraped down revealing a few holes but not too bad. The carpet was removed from the hatch. Now onto the brake lines next. I also have the carbs 90% removed. I am just trying to get out the bottom left bolts and they are free.

Febuary 1, 2004
I removed the carbs today and will get them rebuilt soon. Nice to finally get them out. Also the brake lines had some work done as well. They are so rusted and frail that it seems like I am breaking the old lines more than anything when trying to remove them. But some more progress has been done.

Feburary 22, 2004
I have the carbs back and they have been rebuilt. I put them back on to get the screws etc in place and the new gaskets. I now just have to recconect all the air, fuel etc lines and I should be ready to go. The battery died on me so that is on the charger now. It is looking pretty worn out and old so I will replace that once I am getting the car on the road for real, but for now I will just recharge it to see if once everything is hooked up if I can start it. Oh yeah, the pcv valve was also replaced while I had easy access to everything.

March in general

I forgot to add some of the stuff that has been done over the course of March but I got some brake lines removed and started replacing them with new ones. It is a bit slow this month but moveing ahead a little. Also I sanded down the interior a bit better in anticipation of getting my floors repaired soon hopefully.

April 3 2004

I had a friend come over and help me get the floors ready for him to weld. He was showing me how to prep them as far as grinding out the rusted area, filing down the rough edges and things like that. If I can get the garage warm enough I would like to put down some POR-15 so that everything is sealed and can just be reground where needed next time he comes over to do the actual welding. At least some progress was actually being made again and within the next week or two might be ready on the inside.

September 1, 2004

I had a huge slow down over the summer do to work, travel and life in general. I am back at it now and have got back to finishing my brake lines. I wrapped up the back and will now be moving to the front and then finishing up the one long line from the front to rear after that. I also started reupholstering my seats (half done) and will get that finished off soon enough. That way I can get rid of some boxes and any old stuff that is ready to go on the car.

I also have installed a new radiator which I am hoping now will take care of any of the old overheating problems I had. It is a 4 core radiator to replace the old two that was stock. I have some pictures I will add in soon of it. I may also go with an electric fan just to help out even more. Lets see as for overheating I now have rebuilt carbs, new radiator, new thermostat and might get the fan. Hopefully that will take care of it.

Also I just got a call from home that boxes have been delivered which should have Electronic ignition, electronic coil, springs, struts, headers, 260Z decals, some shiny new bolts and various hardware and mirrors. I am hoping to get this stuff on as fast as possible and really kick this project into high gear.

I don't think I could have as much dedication as you on a car like this. I look forward to seeing the finalized project. I am actually test driving a 260Z today (9/6) at a local dealership (i'm surprised they would have it on the lot). Check out my 98 Mercury Sable LS Kevin
