kyllyck's 1992 Ford Ranger

Nothing fancy about the piglet. She is designed to be rode hard and put away wet. She can yard a small fifth wheel trailer for short off road trips. Or, if I use the utility trailer, I can go for a month with out hitting pavement.

She is running 31 12.50 on solid aluminum wheels. She has a 4 inch body lift. She has a custom flatbed that allows two spares to be carried on the side and has a hidden gooseneck hitch for the fifth wheel. She sports a center force off road clutch. She has two winches, both Warn 8000's. One on the front and one in the frame under the flatbed.

All of the exterior lights have been upgraded to LED. She runs Pilot dual driving/fog and KC off road lights. I plan on upgrading my off road lights to LightForce next few months. I have 86'd the standard headlight switch and created my own overhead light control center. All the lights are powered by a secondary bank of two batteries. The two back up batteries are hooked into a solar panel in addition to the vehicle charging system and a small generator. Each light has its own switch and circut breaker and there is a master disconnect to shut every light down (including break lights) when I switch to the IR driving lights (and IR goggles). It is a kick in the ass to highball across the desert at night using night vision.

I have an onboard GPS/PDA/Laptop that gives me a moving map with every USGS 7.5 minute map in the US. As part of the computer system I have over 5000 studio quality tunes on a 120 gig harddrive (who needs a sat radio). Cell phone and CB.

Future upgrades include (but not limited to)
A duplex satellite internet/phone system.
Regearing of the drivetrain (who needs to go 70mph in third) and temp and/or pressure sensors in everything.
A custom flat panel dash board with digital instrumentation. Each drivetrain sensor will have its own display with preset warnings (if pressure or temp exceeds a point, the display changes color and flashes)
A second fuel tank for a total of 40 gallons of onboard fuel.
A Can-bak rag top canopy.

Stay tuned for future stories and grand adventures. I'm leaving in a week to spend several months in Baja with the piglet, the dog and my sea kayak. It's gonna be a hoot!
