SilverStang23's 1993 Ford Mustang

- March 23 2005 -

Since Last update I have wired in a manual fan switch that I can use to over ride the controls and turn the fan on whenever i want or if it is not turning on by itself properly. I also wired in a LED to let me know when the fan is turning on.

My stock clutch started to slip so it was time for a new one. I chose to go with the SPEC Stage II clutch and flywheel assembly. I installed myself and now there is no more slipping. It is definatly a different feel from the stock clutch and has a very small release point. Took a bit of getting used to. I hate stalling out my car, I feel like an ass. Now that its all broken in everything is going good. Grabs real hard too.

I picked up a set of GT side skirts and rear bumper as well as all the hangers to hang them. I will most likely be putting at least the side skirts on in the beginning of summer. The GT rear bumper I may just wind up leaving off.

Just recently I installed a 3" Electric Cutout right before the Cat. Its wired to a switch in the Ash tray location so it can be opened and closed from inside the car. Personally I think it sounds badass when I open it all the way up. You can really hear the turbo screaming that way :-) Its meant for the track but man it sure is fun to open it up when your sitting next to a car at a stop light.

I also just recently installed a Pro 5.0 shifter and new black leather boot. Looks and shifts great I think.

Wow, its been over a year since I updated this page. Lets see what has happened since my last update.

The car passed inspection after three tries so thats fine now. I installed a front mount Volvo Intercooler and upped the boost to 16psi. With the new intercooler I used a ford ranger radiator and a pontiac grand am fan. I installed a Forge BOV. Sounds great in my opinion. I relocated my battery to the trunk using an aluminum battery box. Also purchased a new battery. I just picked up a cobra front grill insert that I will be installing sortly. This should allow for more air to the intercoller/radiator.

Still have a small oil leak that I'm trying to fix. And also a small electrical problem with my fan turning on. Going to run a manual fan switch to solve that problem. and thats about it in the past year.

Since the last update there have been a few events and a few changes.

I added a Gillis boost valve and currently have it set at about 13psi. Easy install and I highly recommend it. Why is it only at 13psi? It's because I want to make a few changes before I go any higher. Eventually it will probably be set around 15-16psi.

I had a problem with idling when I started my car. I traced this problem to a vacuum leak at the egr. Apparently when I tightened it I torqued it down to hard and it ended up cracking. I solved the problem with some J&B weld and it seems to be working fine so far. You can see a pic on the pic page.

I was having a big problem with oil leaking around my valve cover. This was due to the fact that I'm an ass and I tightened the valve cover down to hard and cracked the gasket. You can see the pic on the pic page. I seem to have a problem with over tightening I guess...

My next problem was leaking coolant. This problem was traced to the water pump. I took the pump off and replaced it with the water pump from my n/a engine and the problem was solved. I also found a lot of crap in the coolant (as you can see in the pics) so I flushed the whole system thoroughly.

I made a metal bracket to hold my power steering reservoir in place due to the fact that I used the power steering from the turbo coupe and my car didn't have a bracket for it.

I purchased some floor mats from a friend of mine with the running horse and Mustang embroidered on them. I also changed the rubber pedal covers because they were falling apart and becoming dangerous to drive with.

I took my car to get inspected and it failed. They failed me for my rear brakes and my CO emissions. I replaced my rear shoes and ground down the rotors so now the brakes are all set. I'm going to pour some gas treatment in the tank and bring it back and cross my fingers hoping this time it will pass emissions. It wasn't that much over to begin with. So we will see.. fingers crossed.

- Middle to End of May 2003 -

I have not had a chance to update in a while due to work and school ending for the semester. So here's what I've gotten done. I fit stock t-coupe intercooler in place (in stock location for now), bought K&N RE-0930 cone air filter, filled all my fluids, ran all the vacuum lines, and capped off the vac lines that needed to be capped.

It was now time to start it up. Good news is that it started right up and ran great. Bad news was that it ran when the key was in the crank position and cranked when the key was in the run position. After a few days of checking the wiring I determined the problem. I had shorted the wrong two wires for the reverse light switch. According to the directions I had done it right but after testing I determined the correct wires that needed to be shorted. Once that was set I started her up and she ran great. I backed her out of the garage with no problem. I decided to let her run for a while in the driveway for a while to see if there were any problems. Sure enough after about five minutes she died. I went to start her up again and it was dead. The battery had died. This led me to believe that the alternator was not charging the battery. So I simply took the alternator of my old engine bolted it on in like 10 mins and charged her back up. This time when I started her she keep on going. And man did it sound good. I have no exhaust as of yet by the way.

Now for a test drive. All I have to say is boost is grand. Even with no exhaust I could still hear the turbo screaming though the gears. Tranny shifted great and the car pulled great which was enough to give me a smile from ear to ear on a job well done.

Hey nice set-up with the front mount intercooler. I have plans to do mine like that. Check out my 2.3 turbo I swapped from a T-Bird into my '93 Coupe Mustang.
