My first Vega circa 1975. Dad bought it new in 72. Was a GT with 4 speed and AC. This was a great car and for a 4 banger was a lot of fun to drive. I drove the car hard and could not blow the engine up. I was hoping to destroy the motor and convince dad to help me drop in a V-8. (Didn't work!)
In 1976 we repainted it a mix of 70 Corvette Blue And 76 Cadillac Blue. We added an extra ounce of fine metallic to the mix and painted it in a friends driveway. the CB craze was big and I had one hanging under the dash along with an 8-Track Stereo unit. Fog lights on the front bumper and dig the twin 9' CB antennas on the rear. sold it in 1978 as the Chicago winters had rusted the body.
Found this 73 Kammback in 1997. It was painted by a grandfather to go fishing with his grandson. Now has a 3.8L Buick V-6 from an 84 Regal and an Automatic with a shift kit from a 79 Firebird. Has some minor rust to fix and the car only has 67,000 miles on it.
The hood art is the best part! Too bad I don't fish!
The Tail has a Blond kid who looks like Opie and he is saying AH Lets Go Fishing.
The side is a swamp scene with 2 figures in a fishing boat and the words PAPA's Little Fishing Buddy
My new project purchased September 2003 is a 77 Kammback. Had a V-8 in the past. Currently needs an engine, trans and $$$$ to rebuild it. May keep it for parts, V-8 it or sell it. I just could not bear to see another H-body head to the crusher.
