takman2's 1972 Austin Minitakman2's 1972 Austin MiniThis is my 1972 Austin Mini Cooper that has been reshelled in a 1991 body.

You might ask yourself, why would someone want this car other than the fact that it's cute (not a good thing to tell a guy by the way)? Learn on page 4.

When I bought the car it had the 1991 MKIII grill, 13" wheels, pinstripes, and black roof as some of the pics show on page 3.

I've always wanted a Monte Carlo Rally replica which are all MKI bodies, but they hence come with less technology like non syncro transmissions and hydrolastic suspension. This is a good compromise because it looks like an older Mini but has the parts from a modern like the 8.4" disc brakes, 4 spd syncro box, and dry suspension.

It has been a work in progress. The body may be a 91, but it still had rust in places that needed treatment. I had the roof and number boxes painted white by Bair's Auto in Santa Monica.

It's not fast, but it handles like a go kart and sounds loud and crude. I love it!

www.minimania.com is the place to get all old Mini bots. You caouls actually build an entire Mini out of spares from these guys.

Dude, I just got a stock (all but wheels) 1973 Mini. AND it is right-hand drive... Anyway, I want to get it looking, feeling, and driving like the old rally cars. I have limited internet access timewise, and I was wondering if you have info on where I can get the parts and specs I would need to create my rally-mobile (rally lamps, roof rack, bonnet strap, badges, wheels, racing harnesses, etc.) Minis are... Minis! I love my new car and want to let it be all that it can. any help you can provide is very much appreciated.
