Drivetrain Details
Pro 5.0 shifter installed. Precise. Quiet. Cool (meaning there is not much heat transfer).
MGW adjustable handle installed on the Pro 5.0. The stubby handle included with the shifter was too short for a comfortable reach. I stumbled upon the MGW and am very pleased. After a couple adjustments and test drives, I had the handle dialed in.
FRPP aluminum drive shaft polished and clear-coated. On a home scale, the FRPP shaft came in at 12 lbs., while the stock steel shaft weighed 18 lbs. That's a substantial difference in rotation weight. I didn't notice any difference in performance though because by that time, the car was having substantial traction problems due to worn tires.
Metco drive shaft safety loop. Not the easiest thing to install (the mid-pipe must be dropped and the interior carpet pulled up) but it gives me piece of mind in case the U-joint was to explode.
A general view of the rear drivetrain with a Saleen differential cover. I clear-coated it to aid cleaning. I should do something about those cosmetically challenged axle tubes.
Detail of the diff. cover. Mounting hardware is chrome plated. Not seen is the Torsen differential and gears. For the '00 supercharged models, Saleen installed 3.08 gears in place of the original Ford 3.27s to better match the load characteristics of the Series I blower. If I increase the blower efficiency, 3.55s will find their way in the diff. someday.
Maximum Motorsports urethane pinion snubber.
